“Android wa Yume wo Miru ka? / Hikari no Uta” marks ANGERME’s third consecutive single tied to a graduation. The previous two singles — “Bibitaru Ichigeki / Uwasa no Narushii / THANK YOU, HELLO GOOD BYE” and “Hatsukoi, Hanabie / Yuuyuu Kankan gonna be alright!!” — were the final releases for Sasaki Rikako and Kawamura Ayano, respectively.
Rikako’s graduation in particular was a major milestone, as she was the last remaining member from the group’s S/mileage era. Her departure closed the book on a huge chapter in the group’s history.
Below are the promotional images for the new single. As of now, cover art for the Limited and Regular editions hasn’t been revealed yet, but we’ll update this post once they’re released!
Bonus: Yukihoroid and the Switch 2
On an unrelated note, Shimoitani Yukiho (下井谷幸穂) shared her thoughts on the newly announced Nintendo Switch 2 in a recent blog post. She says there are so many games she wants to play that she’ll need to have a serious talk with her family about it first. 😆 She’s super positive about the console overall — and honestly, so was everyone during the Nintendo Direct… at least until the price was revealed.
That said, the situation is a very different in Japan, where the Switch 2 will cost the equivalent of about 343 USD, compared to 450 USD in the US.
She also posted this fun photo posing like a robot and captioned it “ユキホロイド” (Yukihoroid). Iconic.
About ANGERME
ANGERME (アンジュルム), formerly known as S/mileage (スマイレージ), is a J-pop group that is part of Hello! Project. It originally started as an independent group with members of Hello Pro Egg in 2009. S/mileage was formed by four first-generation members with the possibility of the lineup changing. It’s surprising how this intention was previously considered and never materialized.
The group disbanded from Hello Pro Egg just a year later in 2010 and became a regular part of Hello! Project like the other groups. The group changed its name to ANGERME in late 2014 to celebrate the third-generation members and mark a turning point in the group’s image.
ANGERME currently consists of 11 members, the most recent of whom are members of the 11th generation. They have released 33 major singles, four indie singles, and four studio albums. The group has sold over 1.3 million records as of 2022.
